The cake making process starts with you requesting a price quote. Simply click on Order A Cake, select Request A Price Quote from the drop down menu, and then fill out as many of the fields as possible with your event details and creative cake vision. The more info you can provide, the better we can price your cake! We are happy to create an original design for you. Please let us know the theme, approximate size, color scheme, and any message that you would like to include on your cake. Also be sure to note if you would like us to include sculpted toppers, figures, flowers, or other special details. Prior to getting started, we will need to collect a $100 design fee which will be applied to the final cost of your cake.
All of our cakes are individually priced based on the complexity of their design. Given that our cakes are completely custom made, we do not have a standardized pricing list.
Custom tiered cakes start at $600 and 3D sculptural cakes start at $1000.
We are happy to work within your event budget and encourage you to contact us for a design/tasting appointment so that we can discuss your cake order in person. We feel meeting with someone face-to-face and getting to know their ideas is the best way to plan a spectacular cake!
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your order; the remainder is due at least two weeks prior to your event. Your order is not confirmed until we have received your signed contract and 50% non-refundable deposit.
Payment can be made by cash, check or credit card (Visa, AmEx, or Mastercard, and Discover). Cake orders placed with less than two weeks notice require payment in full by credit card at the time of ordering. Deposits are non-refundable.
If you cancel your order, your balance payment is refundable provided Charm City Cakes is notified at least five (5) business days prior to the event. There is no payment refund on orders canceled within five (5) business days of the event.
Design/Tasting appointments are held for most, but not all, cake orders. There is a non-refundable $100 deposit required for appointments, payable by credit card. The $100 deposit will be deducted from the final cost of your cake.
Event dates are held for you through the date of your appointment or quote, and five (5) business days afterwards. If we do not receive a signed contract and 50% deposit within five (5) business days of your appointment or quote, your date may become unavailable.
Delivery is available for wedding cakes and cakes that require on-site assembly. We cannot guarantee that any particular staff member will deliver your cake.
Delivery fees are calculated by distance traveled and are roughly $175 an hour. Anything longer than five hours is determined on a case-by-case basis.
While it is generally not a problem for clients to transport smaller cakes, self-transporting any cake is at your own risk. Charm City Cakes does not recommend clients self-transport 3D/sculptural cakes, cakes over 2 tiers tall, or any cake more than 3 hours and is not responsible for any damage that may occur to any client-transported cake once it has left our bakery.
We are not currently hiring any staff, interns, externs, unpaid grunts, or volunteers. However, if you are an artist living in the Los Angeles area and would like to be considered for a future position, send us a resume with a few examples of your work to Hireme@charmcitycakeswest.com and we will keep it on file. While we are happy to look at your work, please note that we do not have time to respond to everyone individually.
We wish we could answer every question in stupendously personalized detail. However, due to the redonculous crazy number of emails we get, that’s simply not possible and we can’t answer questions about these topics.
